In 2014, we received a very special commission: to create a family history book that would chronicle the Blois family's extraordinary journey, from their roots in France to their life in Argentine Patagonia. The result was Between France and Patagonia, a hardcover edition that combined interviews, photographs, and memoirs, becoming a true bridge between generations.

The story behind the book

The idea was born from the desire of Jacqueline and Pierre Blois's children and grandchildren to preserve, in a beautiful and lasting book, the memory of their roots. Through first-person accounts, the book explores:

  • Jacqueline's childhood in Indochina.

  • The war years in Europe and Pierre's bravery as a hero of the French Resistance.

  • Immigration to Argentina during the rise of national aviation and the connection with Émile Dewoitine.

  • Their life at Estancia Santa Teresita in Esquel, marked by daily effort and adaptation to the Patagonian nature.

Beyond dates and facts, Between France and Patagonia conveys emotions: nostalgia for places left behind, courage in the face of challenges, and the warmth of family bonds that grow stronger with time.

From a single edition to a reissue eleven years later

When the book was delivered in 2014, only 14 copies were printed, intended for Jacqueline´s and Pierre´s children and grandchildren. Eleven years later, the story comes to life again: those grandchildren—now adults—requested a reprint of the work so the great-grandchildren would also have a copy. The reissue is more than a reprint: it's a new stage in the journey of a book that, like the family, continues to grow.

Why tell your story

This project reminds us that a family history book isn't just an object: it's an emotional legacy, a story that can cross oceans and decades to reach new generations intact.

At The Allbum, we transform memories into unique editions, carefully curated down to the last detail: from the narrative and image selection to the design, binding, and finishing.
